Which is better, angular contact ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings?

Author:

Angular contact ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings have their own advantages and applicable scenarios, it is impossible to simply say which is better.
The following is a comparison between the two:

1. Structure and design: angular contact ball bearing is composed of inner ring, outer ring, rolling body and cage, and its rolling body is spherical.
The cylindrical roller bearing is composed of outer ring, inner ring, rolling body and cage, and its rolling body is cylindrical.
Because the shape of the rolling body is different, the contact surface of the two is also different. The contact surface of the spherical rolling body is a point, while the cylindrical contact surface is a line.

2.Bearing capacity: at the same size, the radial bearing capacity of cylindrical roller bearings is larger than that of angular contact ball bearings.
This is because the contact surface of the cylindrical roller is linear and can withstand a greater radial load.
However, the angular contact ball bearing has outstanding bearing capacity of axial load and can bear two-way axial force.

3. Use scene: cylindrical roller bearings mainly bear radial load, which is suitable for situations that need to bear large radial load, such as machine tool spindle, reducer and so on.
Angular contact ball bearings are suitable for situations that need to bear combined radial and axial loads, such as automobile hub bearings, motor bearings and so on.
4. Accuracy and stability: angular contact ball bearings have high rotation accuracy and stability, which is suitable for situations where high precision and high speed operation are needed.
However, the rotation accuracy and stability of cylindrical roller bearings are relatively low, so they are suitable for situations where the requirements of precision and speed are not high.
Angular contact ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings have their own advantages and applicable scenarios.
When selecting bearings, we need to comprehensively consider the specific use scene, load type, precision requirements and other factors, and select the most suitable bearing type.
